Magan's Lens | Austin Family, Children, and Wedding Photographer bio picture
  • Hello! I’m Magan…

Welcome to Magan's Lens! To the right is a photo of me. My goal is to get to know you. To capture you. To make you forget about the black box floating in front of my face. I want to capture the best moments of your life. Your journey.

    Your journey to the alter.
    The first baby.
    Make that the whole family.
    Your graduating children.
    The business adventures.
    And those just because moments.

The blog has all my most recent work, but if you prefer galleries and seeing mostly pictures, feel free to head to my portfolio site.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule your session. If you have an idea, let's work together to make it happen so we can see it hanging beautifully on your walls. My style is journalistic. I prefer candid shots, but mix things up with poses. I love all things photography. I look forward to meeting you!

[Wedding] Tuesday | Magan’s Lens | Austin Wedding Photographer

Today, I would like to say thank you. Thank you to the awesome, sweet, incredible couples who have contacted me lately to discuss their wedding photography. It’s a huge blessing to be asked to be part of your lives, the planning process, and your wedding day.  I am filled with excitement and anticipation as my big wedding season approaches this year, for the upcoming meetings I have, and the weddings that I’m planning to be a part of next spring. I’m so excited about the engagement sessions and ideas that are brewing.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

The image for today is from a wedding I shot with James Dvorscak in June. More of that wedding coming soon.  Thank you, James, for allowing me to be your second shooter for the day!

Lora Ayers - What a gorgeous bride, I love her red lips! Can’t wait to see more!

Short and Sweet | Magan’s Lens | Austin Children’s Photographer

When I was little, I greatly admired my cousin Amber. She was a dancer…and a beautiful one at that. I have these beautiful memories of seeing her dance in grand productions. My young self would sit in awe and amazement as they would play out before me. My little hometown was small and we didn’t have a dance studio where I could learn the art of ballet. But more than that, I didn’t have rhythm. Amber was doing something that I could have only aspired to do, and I was so proud of her for being up on that stage.

Those days are long past, and Amber is now married to a wonderful man named Steve. Recently, they made the move from the Dallas area to San Antonio. We are working on a great project for their business Dignity Women’s Center, and met yesterday to take portraits.  They have a beautiful little daughter, Catherine, who is love with all things Elmo. While we were shooting yesterday, I captured this picture of Catherine…

Maybe she’ll be a little dancer, and I’ll once again get to sit in the audience in amazement.

Amanda + Steve, Married, Part 01 | Magan’s Lens | Austin Wedding Photographer

Steve and Amanda got married in Dallas, Texas at the lovely Northeast Wedding Chapel. I was able to go to Dallas the evening before their wedding; I didn’t want to rush and potentially get stuck in traffic the next day. I’m so happy I was able to be there all throughout the wedding day. I was so honored to get to spend time eating breakfast with all the guests and wedding party – meeting everyone before the craziness of the wedding began. The bridesmaids made a few last minute trips together, and they let me tag along too. By the time I pulled out my gear, I felt like I’d really gotten to know everyone and the rest of the day was so relaxing and easygoing.

This post is all about the getting ready portion of the day with Steve and Amanda.  You’ll also get to see the awesome bridesmaids and groomsmen. In an instant, you’ll be able to see how fun, awesome, and good-looking this bunch was.

Another post coming soon. Stay tuned! Leave Steve and Amanda some blog love so they can get a canvas from me!
